A Trimble company
Trimble acquired B2W Software in 2022. The move validated the value of the B2W portfolio, platform approach and team. B2W also enhances Trimble’s connected, end-to-end construction management concept.
Driven by a passion for innovation, Trimble is setting the pace for the future of work with connected data and cutting-edge technology. The company invested more than $540 million in R&D in 2022 in solutions for the construction, geospatial, transportation and agriculture sectors.
B2W Software history
Paul McKeon started a paving company while in college and later worked for a large road construction contractor in Massachusetts. In 1993, he saw an opportunity to introduce specialized estimating software to an industry being held back in speed, efficiency and accuracy by pencils, calculators and spreadsheets.
The concept and company caught on quickly. Expanding the features and application range of the estimating solution, incorporating cutting-edge IT technology as it emerged, and introducing a complementary solution for field tracking and analysis drove steady growth. Bid2Win then changed its name to B2W Software and developed its visionary concept of a unified platform for estimating and operations. Specialized applications for resource scheduling and dispatching, equipment maintenance, and e-forms and reporting were added. The unique platform enabled contractors to improve efficiency and performance by collaborating and sharing data across these workflows in real time.
1993 – Paul McKeon founded Niche Software, Inc. and developed AutoQuote estimating program for commercial paving
1995 – Introduced PowerBid, the first estimating program designed exclusively for DOT paving jobs and including an approved state bid form generator for direct submittal
1998 – Introduced Bid2Win Estimating & Bidding, the first heavy construction estimating program built from the ground up for a Windows environment
2000 – First User Conference held in Florida
2004 – Estimating application re-engineered for the next-generation Microsoft.NET platform and its powerful SQL Server database engine
2008 – Added Build2Win (later B2W Track) application for field tracking and analysis, creating the first suite of unified tools for estimating and field data management
2011 – Introduced Build2Win Logistics, a new application for resource planning and dispatching that would become B2W Schedule
2012 – New Mobile App provides anytime, anywhere tablet access to critical scheduling, field tracking and equipment maintenance functionality
2013 – Introduced B2W Maintain application, enabling clients to streamline equipment maintenance and repair processes and optimize preventive maintenance
2013 – Changed name from Bid2Win to B2W Software, highlighting expansion from estimating software to unified platform with estimating and operational applications
2014 – Specialized B2W Cloud added as a new hosting option
2016 – Introduced B2W Inform application for e-form data capture and reporting for safety, inspections and other workflows
2017 – Introduced B2W Schedule application for real-time, online resource scheduling and dispatching
2018 – Architecture of B2W Estimate updated on the 25th anniversary of the application for faster performance, larger cost item databases and enhanced connectivity with other workflows
2021 – New mobile app expands the time and performance reporting capabilities to individual employees working independent of crews
2022 – Acquired by Trimble to expand and enhance that company’s connected, end-to-end construction management platform
